Just Like Handy Manny, But Without The Talking Tools

A couple of months ago, the breaks in my van sounded terrible. And, when I saw terrible, that's a really mild way of saying it.

I started envisioning how very expensive it was going to be to have the van fixed, and it just made me sick. It finally sounded so bad that Eric forbid me one evening to drive it to the in-home therapy that I was going to. Instead, I took his car, and he decided to give the van a looking over.

He called me when I was done and said, "It's not good."

Dang it!

Then, he continued. "So, can you stop by AutoZone and pick up some break pads that I had them hold for you. It's going to cost about $25." Yep -- that was it. Our problem was solved for $25 and my husband's know-how. What a blessing!

Sure, sometimes we have to get outside help for problems, but there have been many times over the years when Eric has saved us money just because he had knowledge and was willing to put in the time needed.

So, today, I'm pretty darn thankful for a handy husband!

Sometimes, I think husbands get a pretty bad reputation. So, share with me -- what's something that your husband or boyfriend has done lately that deserves some kudos?

I had the same problem with my truck. You could hear me a mile away. My husband also fixed them for me. He has a friend that works at a car store and let us use his discount to help with the cost. We only have the one income right now.

my husband has become chief laundry-folder. I don't mind DOING the laundry, it's the folding that I'm not so enthused about.

He also handed me the keys the other day and said "I know you don't get out of the house during the week. I've got the kids"... I was only gone for an hour, but it was an hour that was MINE!

Kudos to your dh being able to fix your brakes. Auto repair can get so expensive! My dh is a mechanic so thankfully we can usually avoid costly repairs.

But, anyway to answer your question today....I had a tooth extraction yesterday and hubby and the kids have been taking great care of me! I have all the mashed potatoes I can stand and hubby is handling all of the kids read alouds so I can still finish school on time this week!

I am also blessed with a handy husband. He works on our cars and almost any repair or project around the house (except for the a/c or furnace). At the moment his is adding on to our garage for storage of our bicycles, lawn equipment, and his tools which were getting rusty because of the moisture level in our garage due to wicking through the cement floor. He has saved us thousands upon thousands of dollars over the years! I love the fact that no only does he have the knowledge to do so many handy things, but he also has the willingness. He is certainly a blessing!
